My theme for the A to Z Blog Challenge @AprilA2Z during the month of April is ~ My Life Is My Masterpiece ~ Lessons Learned
“Success is every minute you live. It’s the process of living. It’s stopping for the moments of beauty, of pleasure; the moments of peace. Success is not a destination you ever reach. Success is the quality of the Journey.”
~Jennifer James Ph.D.

I remember when I first read this and for the first time thought about my life in terms of being a journey. It helped me to let go and not worry so much about outcomes and more about observing myself in the present moment. Where was I on this journey? What steps could I take that would move me along on this journey? Thinking of my life as a journey, and not a destination, helped me to look more within instead of seeking the answers from others.

I know I have a *destination* mentality and I have to work really hard to focus on the journey. It’s not easy.
I do like the first quote from Jennifer Jones – ie focus on what makes a life successful. The quality of the experience is really what matters. That’s a great way to reframe it.

I have two books by Jennifer…… one is the title “Success is the Quality of the Journey”. Helped me through a few rough spots. Thanks, Joanne!

It’s funny though, I’ve always preferred walking alone, to sort my thoughts out and commune with the birds and animals around me.

I always found a park with a trail around a pond and would walk by myself. Thanks for those beautiful thoughts, Jemima! 🙂

Good thoughts here. I don’t know when I first understood that life was a journey and not a destination, but ever since then I’ve been a much calmer, happier person. Wish I’d caught onto that idea earlier in life.

Me too! I think ‘destination’ gives the feeling of finding answers from someone else so we can measure our progress. ‘Journey’ gives the feeling of our life unfolding and we’re learning along the way. 🙂

Hello, Kindred Spirit! I am also pondering my journey today, and we are not so dissimilar (although we are still unique) 🙂

That’s the great part of blogging. We find there are more things we have in common than differences. Good to hear from you! 🙂
