My theme for the A to Z Blog Challenge @AprilA2Z during the month of April is ~ My Life Is My Masterpiece ~ Lessons Learned
Clearly, there’s no going back and changing what happened or what I might have done differently in my life if I’d known what I know now after lessons learned.
So………………….

Write Your Biggest Regret
************
It’s never too late to do some of the things you’d regret in the end not trying out. I’ve come to the conclusion that we can only do the best we can with what we’ve got so get out there and do them…………….. and in the end you realize that ‘Old Blue Eyes’ had it right even though we might not choose his way. Depending on our circumstances in life we can only work on ourselves and try to create a life that is our true selves. I’m just grateful to have reached this time in my life where I can say, in my own way, I did it my way (and God was with me through it all).

The A to Z Blog Challenge 2017 is almost to the end! They’re up to Letter $ and I remember how great I felt last year when I reached this point. A real sense of achievement!
Do I ‘regret’ not participating this year? ……. Yes …… And yet I know I wasn’t able to put out the same effort as I did last year. So ….. No Regrets! 🙂

I think I regret fully appreciating when my kids were really little…I was too busy trying to survive toddlerhood while remaining sane haha!

Oh, me too, Katie! When I look at pictures, and they are still, I have to remember the reality of constant motion. I would just love to hug and hold them again though. 🙂

There’s no point regretting things not done in the past, but if they are still doable in the future, then by all means, full steam ahead. 🙂

Regrets are inevitable, regardless of the effort we put. There is always something that had to be foregone because of the decisions we make along the way.
We can only hope that our regrets don’t cripple us down the road. You said it so well in your comment to Parul … it does tie in directly to letting go of the concept of perfectionism.
Happy Friday! Hope your weekend is regret-free 🙂

Regrets can be so damaging. I try to erase them from thoughts, but not always easy. Yes, lessons learned is much, much better.

Thanks for your thoughts, Sylvia. Yes, regrets only pull you back into the past. Lessons learned move you forward.

True for me too, Kathleen. Now you’re older and wiser so it’s never too late! I like your imaginary friends! 🙂

One regret I have is not inquiring about an internship at a publishing firm. That way I could have learned about what it takes to get published. Despite the regret, I am learning that it takes a lot of hard work, so I didn’t necessarily need an internship.
The other thing I regret is writing a book when I was younger. I read about so many writers starting to write stories in high school and finishing drafts of novels in college. I do wish I had developed that drive in my younger years. But I learned that it’s not too late to make that idea into reality on the page. So, that’s what I’m striving for.

You and I both, GR! I worked at a book publishing firm when I was around 18-19. Too young to see an opportunity there. I wrote off and on too. Just wasn’t motivated enough. It’s never too late! 🙂

Regrets can be toxic and energy-draining, especially about something that happened in the past. Thank you for such a wise post.

Thank you for commenting, Gulara! I guess that’s what letting go is all about. Not always easy but very necessary. 🙂

That’s a powerful video that [thankfully] ends with a Clean Slate. I’m more of a lessons learned person than a regrets person, but it’s a matter of semantics, isn’t it?

I went through phases of regrets and decided not to waste anymore precious time. So many things I can still try that I’ve always wanted to try. Thanks Ally! 🙂

I really appreciated the video clip about the things we’ve NOT done – and the idea of figuring out what those things are and going out and doing them before it’s too late 🙂 Leanne @ cresting the hill

Thankfully I got to that point and I’m doing what I can do rather than regretting what I didn’t. Life is short! 🙂

No regrets but yes, a lot of learnings. I love how life shapes up even when things don’t happen as you expect them to.

I guess it goes back to P is for Perfectionism. We’re never going to be perfect so having regrets is’t going to change that. Thanks Parul! 🙂
