My Life Is My Masterpiece ~ Lessons Learned
My theme ~ Lessons Learned. I’ll be posting a word that begins with each letter of the alphabet that fits my theme. This blog/website has become one way to share about myself to my children, my grandchildren and my extended family who are scattered all over the country and the world. Hopefully, anyone who reads this will be in some way blessed by my throwing my words out onto the World Wide Web and into the Universe.
My About Page gives me the focus so that, as I age, I don’t forget what I worked so hard to learn. It’s going to be fun and challenging! I hope you’ll stick with me as I strive to meet my goal!!

“Success is every minute you live. It’s the process of living. It’s stopping for the moments of beauty, of pleasure; the moments of peace. Success is not a destination you ever reach. Success is the quality of the Journey.”
~Jennifer James Ph.D.

I remember when I first read this quote and for the first time thought about my life in terms of being a journey. It helped me to let go and not worry so much about outcomes and more about observing myself in the present moment. Where was I on this journey? What steps could I take that would move me along on this journey? Thinking of my life as a journey, and not a destination, helped me to look more within instead of seeking the answers from others.

Hi Mary Lou. My blog is called Profound Journey so, as you can imagine, I’m all over the journey theme and love both the message and the quotes you shared. Sometimes we have a tendency to focus on outer journeys – travel to far flung places, experiences we want to have. But midlife seems to me to be the perfect time to focus on our inner journey which, for me at least, is about discovering and returning to and growing into the authentic me of this stage of life. #MLSTL

I think the thought that life is a journey, not a destination is really true.

Me too Victoria! Life has a way of unfolding as we go along even when we try to set a destination. “Trust the Journey” 🙂

I LOVE to travel … and the idea of life being a constant journey to unexplored places is exciting to me. Unfortunately, I too often consider success as arriving at the destination rather than the journey itself. Thank you for the important reminder to slow down and enjoy the scenery along the way 🙂

I agree Molly! The excitement of traveling for me is being open to new experiences and what’s going to happen each day on the road. 🙂

I also like the “success is the quality of the journey” quote – which I had not heard before. For much of my life I’ve been a destination-gal. Learning to enjoy the journey has been a big part of my retirement experience. Loving this series of yours!

I have really embraced the idea of life being about the journey and not just reaching the destination Mary Lou – it makes me more appreciative of the every day small joys, and also that the tough times won’t last forever. BTW I shared your quote on courage on my blog post that I’ve linked up to today’s party – it inspired me to write more about how being brave applies to me in Midlife.
Thanks for linking up with us at #MLSTL and I’ve shared this on my SM xx

Great quotes Jennifer and I agree it is the journey rather than the destination that is important. Thanks for linking up and sharing with us this week at #MLSTL. It is great to have you as part of the group.

I love this quote. I think that I finally figured that out a few years ago, but I need to remind myself of it more often. Thanks for sharing the quote.

Glad you liked it Ally! Jennifer James has a book out by that name. I picked it up right at the perfect moment in my life when I really needed to read it. 🙂
