Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day ~ April 12th, 2019

(Click on the link to find out more)

“People have been consuming the ever popular grilled cheese sandwich for seemingly ever. Its roots go back to ancient Roman times, when bread was topped with cheese and melted. It wasn’t until the 1920’s that sliced bread was created. Shortly after that, today’s grilled cheese sandwich began to be enjoyed by millions.”

“Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. Like many other food holiday, one could ask “why”. But, the way we see it, the more special days, the merrier. Life is too short. So, let’s always have a reason to celebrate.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day

This past November 2018 I took part in the Nibvember 2018 Challenge.  Day 27 prompt was Lettering and I came up with the design below.  It’s easy to see where my inspiration came from as I’d participated in the A to Z Challenge Lessons Learned in 2016. So, feeling the call to try once again for A To Z Challenge 2019, I decided to sign up for this years using this design as my inspiration.

  1. Oh, grilled cheese! I used to eat that regularly, but now that I’m on a restricted eating plan, well, I’ve had to give them up. I might have to cheat on the 12th, though! I love grilled cheese with sliced pickles or tomatoes inside. Yum! Visiting you from the A-Z Challenge. Great theme!

    • Just reporting back — we celebrated Grilled Cheese Day in style. I got out the good china and we had six different grilled cheese varieties to choose from, seven if you count the dessert grilled cheese that I made with angel food cake and mascarpone. I cut the sandwiches into triangle quarters because triangles are so much classier than squares. Everyone loved it!
