Virtual Sketchwalk is a Facebook Page with 849 (and growing) members.  At the beginning of each month, the Admin ~ Kate Powell ~ posts around 100 plus photographs of interesting places, local and foreign.  Sketchwalks involve a group of artists who meet up at a specific location and spend time sketching together at that location. Virtual Sketchwalk brings together artists who might not be able to travel yet still can enjoy sketching and learning about the area.  It gives us a chance to practice our skills and then share our artwork with each other on Facebook.  Each of us can choose from the photographs and we can sketch as many as we want.  It’s fun to see the different interpretations that evolve from each person.

My previous post on the Virtual Sketchwalk for March, April and May is HERE.

April Virtual Sketchwalk was People Sketching and I didn’t participate.  I was doing the The A to Z Blog Challenge 2019

In May, we were all saddened by the fire that destroyed much of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France. I was amazed that some of the beautiful stained-glass windows survived. When Kate chose Paris as our May Virtual Sketchwalk I seized the opportunity to take up the challenge and try to sketch the window. Now I can say I tried! It was not an easy challenge.

Me in the Middle of Ireland

A Guinness A Day Oct 1

Shamrock, Clover, Saint Patrick, Luck

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!!

********************

What finer day than Saint Patrick’s Day to recall the year that I came home to the land of my ancestors?   Other than ‘the wearing of the green’, I haven’t gotten into too much of the American Celebration of the Day.  I lived across the GW Bridge in NJ all my growing-up years and can’t recall ever going into the big parade in NYC!  I don’t remember ever drinking green beer!  I’ve enjoyed Irish Soda Bread and Corn Beef & Cabbage off and on.  Loved watching the Irish Dancers and even attempted to do the Irish Jig!  All these things helped me feel a part of the tribe …..  though nothing can compare to going Home to Ireland.

Setting foot on Ireland’s soil touched me in such a deep, primal way that I truly felt I was coming home even though I’d never been there before!

Me in the Middle of ETSY.com

Christmas Roses #2

My Shop is now open!!

My ETSY experience has been very similar to my WordPress experience ~ Plunge right in and ask questions later!  I guess that’s the way I learn.  Instead of reading up on everything and then beginning, I like to learn as I go along.  Similar to life, I guess.

After I received the first request to buy one of my sketch prints, I was determined to give all this a try.  It’s really fun and interesting.  Visiting the local printer and learning all about proofs and costs started me thinking about gifts for the family and possibly selling more.  I became more inspired the more I experienced and now I have a shop on ETSY.com.  Please click on the link and take a look!  🙂
