Me in the Middle is Still Blogging

Just stopping by to say I’m still blogging!

I’ve slowed down a bit and really miss my connection with all of you. I miss my creative flow too! So, if you stop by and don’t see any recent posts, please, please don’t give up on me. I will be back!

Some good things going on in my life are visiting the beautiful Shenandoah National Park and taking fantastic photos.

And I’ve been doing some sketching while relaxing on a friend’s back porch that overlooks a natural pond. He has birds building their nests in his Boston Ferns (and also in the birdhouse). There’s a Blue Heron that visits down by the water’s edge and we’re hoping to get a pic of him so I can try a sketch.

I hope you’re all enjoying your summer. It’s a great time to take a break from social media and enjoy the great outdoors.

I’ll Be Back!

Me in the Middle of Free Online Art Classes

Strathmore has an Online Workshop Series!  And it’s FREE!!

Strathmore Online Workshop Series

Being on a tight, retirement budget, there’s not much funds for expensive art classes.  These classes work just fine for me!  Each week the instructor puts up a video on the Strathmore website and from there on you’re free to join in at your convenience.  If you want, you can post your work of art in the Gallery and receive encouragement/suggestions from both the instructor and/or other artists in the workshop.   We just finished up Workshop 1 and I’ve posted all four videos along with my efforts below.  It’s fun!

Me In The Middle

Christmas Roses #2 SketchesbyMaryLou

My Shop is now open!!

My ETSY experience has been very similar to my WordPress experience ~ Plunge right in and ask questions later!  I guess that’s the way I learn.  Instead of reading up on everything and then beginning, I like to learn as I go along.  Similar to life, I guess.

After I received the first request to buy one of my sketch prints, I was determined to give all this a try.  It’s really fun and interesting.  Visiting the local printerand learning all about proofs and costs started me thinking about gifts for the family and possibly selling more.  I became more inspired the more I experienced and now I have a shop on ETSY.com.  Please click on the link and take a look!  🙂

Me in the Middle of Print Proofs

Last Friday I blogged about my reordering my life and getting going on things I’ve been procrastinating about for far too long.  It all evolved around the last two months when I was concerned about the outcome of some medical issues and tests that had been done.  You can read about it here ~ Me in the Middle of Order, Disorder and Reorder:

“While I was going through the uncertainty and disorder of that waiting and not knowing, there was an openness to what’s next in my life once I knew for sure what was going on.  Waiting was difficult!  When I returned home from the hospital I checked my messages and there was an email from someone who wanted to buy a print of one of my watercolor sketches that I did while in Ireland.  My thoughts right away shifted to this new possibility going forward.  No more procrastinating and letting opportunities slip away.  Who knows where this might lead?”

Well, I put the wheels in motion and started putting my good intentions into action.  I’ve been working with a printer this week and just received the final proofs.  They’re doing a job for me for 8 x 10 prints and note cards.

So I’m on my way to finding out what selling your artwork is all about.

Keep a look out for a future post.  I might begin a whole new adventure with this and include a shop here on my website.

Print Proofs #5

How about you?  Have you sold your artwork online?  Any tips for this beginner?

I found this video very inspiring!!
